Thanks to my great husband Timo, I’m now spending a short get away holiday from my everyday life. Timo thought I need a break and “booked” me a holiday to European capital of culture 2017 Aarhus. I didn’t even need to book a flight due to the fact that Aarhus it’s just 2.5 hours driving distance from our home town Hvide Sande.
Why Timo thought I’m the one who needs a break?
My everyday life from Monday to Friday is great in general. I woke up in the mornings, bring my lovely 3,5 years daughter to kindergarten, work full day, take my daughter home and play with her evenings before we go to sleep. Only but is that I’m a single parent from Monday to Friday because Timo is working for one project in Aarhus for couple of months.
Being a single parent, even part-time, means you are lacking your own time.
I recognize the truth in life that it’s not always possible to avoid single parenthood. After living now just a short period and just half-week single parenthood, I really respect all single parents. That’ s a hard work no matter how much you love your kids. Best would be to have close people around you who can help sometimes with kid care and you get some time of your own.
At this point, single parenthood is just a temporary life for our family. Fridays are nowadays most meaningful than ever before when Line gets her father and I get my lovely husband back home!
This Friday was different. After Timo got back home, I started my mini holiday with time just for me, myself and I.
I don’t even remember when I have had last time 24 hours to be just by myself!
I really love my family, life and time with them but I also believe that it’s good to have sometimes time to be just by yourself.
So greetings from my short get away holiday from Aarhus! My plan is to do things I love most in addition to surfing: follow people around me, how they are walking around the hectic city streets of Aarhus and imagine what are the stories behind them. And write. Writing is my way to explore myself, my thoughts and feelings. Writing helps me to be the one I am. When I have a chance to write down the thoughts I have, I feel relieved and even creative.
Ooh – I’m having relaxing time but also missing my family a lot. Luckily I just loaded a great application YouTwo which helps me to be connected to my loved one Timo while hugging is not physically possible.
Do you miss your own time? Why or why not? Feel free to share your thoughts!
